Oil and lubrication-free
compression of biogas

HAUG gas compressors are oil-less and non-lubricated – thus pollution by oil and oil vapour is not possible

There are only two ways to design an oil-free compression process. Either one dispenses with using lubricating oils to give oil-free compression or one compresses using lubricating oils and then installs a treatment plant to remove oil droplets and oil vapour from the compression medium.

HAUG is the only manufacturer of oil-free and lubrication-free compressors for various process applications.

This absolute freedom from oil is achieved through the use of special materials for storage, conveyance and sealing in the compressor block.

However good the treatment, using oil-lubricated compressors poses risks. There are risk factors that cannot be calculated because of maintenance as well as specific environmental and process conditions that may lead to oil contamination.

Damage caused by oil contamination is not only a safety risk, but there is also a risk of cost and reputation damage.

Oil-free and lubrication-free compressors do not require any regular oil checks, oil changes or replacement of oil filter elements, and there is no disposal of oily condensate.

An oil-lubricated compressor with treatment has higher maintenance costs due to the frequent replacement of the treatment components, the compressor oil, and the disposal of waste oil, filter elements and the oily condensate.

With oil-free and lubrication-free compressors, the operator saves maintenance costs while maintenance needs to be performed less frequently.

Scope of supply according to customer specification

The scope of supply is determined by the needs of the customer. Depending on whether a customer is an operator, a contractor or a packager integrating the compressor and its options into the plant, the scope of supply and the area of responsibility are individually tailored.

HAUG can provide individual specialized components or a complete solution, e.g. a container installation with compressor, intake tank and controls.

Haug has years of experience in developing customized solutions based on a modular system.

Only a gas-tight compressor helps the environment

The gas tightness of a compressor is characterized mainly by the seals used and the drive system. HAUG piston compressors have a unique drive system with a contactless magnetic coupling. Thus, the compressor is hermetically and permanently technically sealed.

Also of particular importance for biogas treatment: The environmental performance of bio-methane is only positive with a gas leakage rate of less than 1% as methane has a 23 times greater environmental impact than C02.

HAUG gas-piston compressors with magnetic coupling are permanently and technically sealed – even after dismantling or maintenance.
